Electronics Engineer R&D

The Electronics Engineer R&D develops innovative medical electrical systems and modules to enable surgeons to perform ophthalmological surgeries. The Electronics engineer is part of the R&D System Engineering team, has a large focus on electronics development, mechatronics and control systems design. The System Engineer works according to the companies design and development procedure and international regulations and standards for the Medical device industry. In this role you will collaborate with various disciplines within the company and report to the System Engineering Team Lead and Project Manager New Product Development. 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electronics and hardware for surgical equipment for eye surgery
  • Architecture design and Integration of Mechatronic systems
  • Involvement in the full  development-cycle
  • Simulate, experiment and proof of concept of hardware/electronic prototypes
  • Resolving problems on released products that affect product performance or safety
  • Feasibility studies and research  of new technology through simulations, calculations, prototypes and/or experiments
  • Supervise new products in the production process
  • Developing and managing embedded software used in equipment
  • Submitting equipment for inspection to and supervising external inspection services
  • Documenting Design, Verification and work instructions

 Preferred Skills:

  • Hardware Prototyping techniques (Board Schematic Analysis, Electronic Test and Measurement Equipment, Design-of-Experiments);
  • Familiarity with Orcad toolchain or equivalent
  • Control Theory knowledge, create control algorithms using Pspice, Matlab/Simulink or equivalent modelling tools
  • Practical manual skills, both electronic and mechanical and good handling of electrical measuring tools
  • Management of EMS production dataPro-active Team Player with Excellent communication skills
  • Sufficient written and oral communication skills in Dutch and English

Education and Expertise:

  • Electronic Engineer (university level/higher vocational level) or equivalent degree
  • Our preference at least 7 years of experience in a function involving cooperation with multidisciplinary teams in mechatronic product development of medical devices
  • Knowledge of physics, mechatronics, mechanics, electrical engineering, embedded software
  • Experience working in the ‘Medical Device’ Industry or other regulated industries (Aerospace, Automotive)
  • Electronics Manufacturing Service processes
